Nursery Monitoring

Coral fragments in both in-water and land-based nurseries are monitored for growth, mortality, and health indicators, including disease, predation, and bleaching. This information is important to understand which coral species and genotypes are the best growers and survivors. Additionally, coral inventories are kept and updated of “who” we have of each coral species, “how many” pieces we have of each coral individual, and “where” the corals originally came from and the reefs they are eventually outplanted onto.
